No. The alternative products we discuss are not qualified health plans (QHPs) and are not compliant with the Affordable Care Act. They may exclude pre-existing conditions, cap benefits and do not have to cover all ACA essential health benefits.

Does everyone qualify for a lower-cost alternative?

No. Most alternatives use medical underwriting. Applicants are generally expected to be reasonably healthy, tobacco-free, with no pending procedures and no significant medical history. Many people do not qualify, and that is exactly why the ACA Marketplace exists.

Who should stay on Obamacare (the ACA Marketplace)?

Anyone with a significant medical history such as cancer, diabetes or other ongoing conditions, anyone who is pregnant or planning treatment, and lower-income households who qualify for meaningful premium tax credits should generally stay on an ACA Marketplace plan.
