Medicare Annual Enrollment in Katy, TX (Oct 15 – Dec 7): What to Review

Published October 3, 2026 · By Joseph Stevens

Quick answerFrom October 15 to December 7 each year, Katy-area Medicare beneficiaries can switch Medicare Advantage plans, change Part D drug plans, or move between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage. Changes take effect January 1. Review your plan's Annual Notice of Change, confirm your Katy doctors and hospitals are still in network, and check your prescriptions against next year's drug list.

Why review your plan every fall

Plans can change their networks, drug lists and costs every year. A plan that worked well this year may not next year — even if you didn't change anything. Your plan mails an Annual Notice of Change in late September that lists what's different.

A Katy-area review checklist

  • Are your doctors still in network for next year?
  • Are the hospitals you'd use — such as those along I-10 and the Grand Parkway — still covered?
  • Are all your prescriptions on next year's drug list, and at what tier?
  • Has your pharmacy changed network status?
  • Do you expect any major health or travel changes next year?

What you can and can't change

During Annual Enrollment you can join, switch or drop a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans work differently — outside your initial enrollment window, switching a Supplement may require answering health questions.
