What is ending—and what is not
The carrier's main notice says it notified regulators of its intent to discontinue Individual Marketplace plans after December 31, 2026 and will contact affected members following regulatory approval. Its member FAQ describes the planned discontinuation. Read your official notice for the status and instructions that apply to your policy; do not assume coverage has already ended.
This announcement is about Individual & Family ACA Marketplace coverage—not all Scott and White insurance. The carrier says it will continue serving employer groups and Medicare Advantage customers. Baylor Scott & White hospitals, doctors and facilities are not closing because of this announcement.
Choose coverage for January 1 or February 1
HealthCare.gov currently lists Open Enrollment from November 1 through January 15. Select or change a plan by December 15, 2026 for coverage beginning January 1, 2027. Selections from December 16 through January 15 generally begin February 1, 2027. Eligibility, enrollment acceptance and payment of the first premium are required.
The carrier's FAQ emphasizes November 1–December 15 for members arranging replacement coverage. Waiting for February coverage can leave January without the replacement plan. Read both your insurer and Marketplace letters: HealthCare.gov may match some members to another plan automatically, but that does not guarantee your preferred network or benefits. Review the match rather than assume it is appropriate.
Check current HealthCare.gov deadlinesCan I keep Baylor Scott & White doctors and facilities?
Baylor Scott & White states it will continue to accept Marketplace insurance plans. Other carriers may offer access, but participation depends on the exact 2027 plan, network, doctor, facility and practice location. A carrier name, an HMO or PPO label, or an accepted-insurance list is not a guarantee that every facility or clinician participates.
- Verify each doctor and facility with both the replacement carrier and the provider.
- Check the plan's prescription list, pharmacies, referrals and prior-authorization rules.
- Ask the new carrier about any applicable transition-of-care process.
- Confirm enrollment acceptance, first-premium payment and the effective date before changing existing coverage.
Dallas, Central Texas and the Marketplace service area
Replacement Marketplace options depend on your residential county and address—not only your mailing city or preferred hospital. Dallas-area and Central Texas residents should verify the exact county used in their application. A city can cross county lines, and one person's available plans may differ from another's.
Use the carrier's notice to confirm that your policy is affected. Its service-map page contains separate Marketplace, Medicare and employer maps; do not use one product's map to establish another product's eligibility.
